Pioneer plants-The first species to colonize an area after the soil is disturbed by fire, flood, or earthquake or after a farm or garden is abandoned. Pioneer plants end up getting out competed, and pushed out of the habitat they helped create. Examples of pioneer plants are: mosses and lichens
